Check out some simple steps below to get you started. If you ever have any questions do not hesitate to contact us.

5 simple steps to get you started...

Step 1 - How to look after your uniform and tie your belt?

Instructor Giorgio and his son Orlando show an introductory video on Martial Arts etiquette and safety along with looking after the uniform and tying the belt around your child.
Instructor Anthony showing you how to tie the belt on to yourself together with some extra tips.

Step 2 - View the Academy (Dojang) Tour:

Get a view from front to back through the entire academy with details on where to put your belongings, the different programs and ranking systems, where to line up, bowing on and off the mats and get a look at the different classes you can experience...enjoy!

Step 3 - Complete your first White Tip?

There are 6 tips that you must achieve on your belt to attend a grading test for the next level. Tips are checked and awarded by the instructor during training time at normal classes, private lessons and training camps.

The tips breakdown all the empty hand area's of combat that you will learn in Hapkido. They are:

- White Tip (Theory, Movement & Meditation)
- Yellow Tip (Conditioning & Break Falling)
- Green Tip (Grappling & Wrestling)
- Blue Tip (Throwing & Standing Submissions)
- Red Tip (Striking & Kickboxing)
- Black Tip (Self Defence & Multiple Attacker Awareness)

Its important to first focus on your White tip as it will provide a foundation for the other technical tips.

Step 4 - Online Resource Library (ORL)

To help guide you through your Tips on each belt we offer you the complete curriculum on demand 24/7 on your phone, tablet, laptop or computer!

The Online Resource Library (ORL) has all the techniques across multiple martial arts styles set into a step by step logical, clearly defined, systematic curriculum from white to black belt and beyond. Over 600 training videos with countless hours of footage.

Great value for money at less than a bottle of water per week.

Step 5 - Grading test

Once you achieve all 6 tips you will be ready to grade. We run grading tests every 3 months across 4 terms of the year. You will require your full uniform with correct badges, water, towel and your student workbook which gets marked at the grading.

All parents must have also completed their child's behaviour forms prior to the grading day. Martial arts has always been more than just punching and kicking. We ensure that children's behaviour is just as good at home as it is on the mat!

The next grading test is normally on the calendar at the academy or you can ask your instructor. Even if you have joined halfway through a Term, there may still be a chance you could make grading as we pass students based on competency rather than attendance. If you know your stuff, you will pass.

We find that students who come to class at least twice per week and are also learning from the ORL generally get through. PLEASE NOTE that grading is a term deadline, therefore as the curriculum content is rotating, any tips earnt will need to be removed for the next term should the grading not be completed.
