Weapons Long Staff & Sword (Dos Manos) Grading Results

Recently we had a group of students participate in a grading test on one of the GIANT long range weapon systems of Long Staff & Sword (dos manos - two hands).

Congratulations to everyone who passed their new ranks! Special mention to Linda Petrevski on completing 8 weapons courses and awarded her Level 8 Brown Chevron rank. She was honoured with a 5 round shark tank with multiple attackers on top of the already 6 rounds of sparring completed, well done!

Check out the highlight video of the grading which demonstrates the many skills the students learnt, especially in sparring distance. Both these weapons are a range changer and quite different to the use of the shorter weapons. The earliest form of "Long Staff" a.k.a Jang Bong (Korean), Bo (Japanese) or Bang (Chinese) has been used throughout Asia since the beginning of recorded history. The Japanese Kitana sword is also a powerful weapon with by use of both hands creates greater power, range and speed.

To this day almost every household will have access to a broom stick, mop or shovel. Learn to turn these everyday items into a weapon of self defence.

In addition to Long Staff & Sword concepts the student learnt the "Lamb Baton Method" which has been employed by police and military trainers all over the world. This is what weapons coach Ray Floro has to say about this system:

"Developed by Arthur Lamb in 1969. I consider it one of the best baton systems. He breaks it up into 7 "Phases" and the use of fakes is to me GENIUS!"
