Need help getting your Tips?

There are 6 tips that you must achieve on your belt to attend a grading test for the next level. Tips are checked and awarded by the instructor during training time at normal classes, private lessons and training camps.

The tips breakdown all the empty hand areas of combat that you will learn in Hapkido. They are:

- White Tip (Theory, Movement & Meditation)
- Yellow Tip (Conditioning & Break Falling)
- Green Tip (Grappling & Wrestling)
- Blue Tip (Throwing & Standing Submissions)
- Red Tip (Striking & Kickboxing)
- Black Tip (Self Defence & Multiple Attacker Awareness)

Its important to first focus on your White tip as it will provide a foundation for the other technical tips.

Private lessons have been really popular with students who are getting stuck on progress, or want to know how to perfect certain techniques.

Leading up to the grading we always launch this successful program we call "The Private Lesson Marathon (PLM)" to help students get the help they need at a very cheap cost.

Private lessons are normally $100 per hour per person, for the marathon this cost is being reduced to $20 for 20 minutes.

Private lessons will help work with you at your own rate of learning to gain the positive results and help advance you through the curriculum. If you bring a friend or sibling the Private Lesson Marathon cost will reduce to $15 per person for the 20 minute block.

The Grading Examination

Once you achieve all 6 tips you will be ready to grade. We run grading tests every 3 months across 4 terms of the year. You will require your full uniform with correct badges, water, towel and your grading form which gets marked at the grading and you can keep in your student folder.

All parents must have also completed their child's behaviour forms prior to the grading day. Martial arts has always been more than just punching and kicking. We ensure that children's behaviour is just as good at home as it is on the mat! The grading schedule usually runs as follows:

Term 1 - End of April

Term 2 - End of July

Term 3 - End of October

Term 4 - End of January

Even if you have joined halfway through a Term, there may still be a chance you could make grading as we pass students based on competency rather than attendance. If you know your stuff, you will pass.

PLEASE NOTE that grading is a term deadline, therefore as the curriculum content is rotating, any tips earnt will need to be repeated for the next term should the grading not be completed.
